We are many and different, it seems on the surface we're not all the same
In our lack of acceptance, sometimes we can cause for each other much pain
Yet so deep in our being is hidden a love and a hunger to care
The same Spirit has given to us different gifts that we all need to share

Because when I hurt you, I'm hurting me
We are the same body in reality
And without each other, we can't survive
The head needs a heart to stay alive

Sometimes culture confuses, we learn to compete, to contrast, to compare
Fear of failure depletes us and closes our hearts; we're no longer aware
Of the peace hidden in us; the secret of life, the solution to pain
Each unique one is precious, Created by God with a purpose that's plain

Because when I hurt you, I'm hurting me
We are the same body in reality
And without each other, we can't survive
The head needs a heart to stay alive

The head needs a heart
The head needs a heart
The head needs a heart
To stay alive
The head needs a heart
The head needs a heart
The head needs a heart
To stay alive

Competition has bruised us and brought forth depression and low self-esteem
Blinded us to the gifts that we are for each other and stifled our dream
Holy Spirit infuse us, and open our hearts to the treasures we find
As we live for each other with Love in our hearts, and Your Peace in our minds

Because when I hurt you, I'm hurting me
We are the same body in reality
And without each other, we can't survive
The head needs a heart to stay alive
The head needs a heart

1 Corinthians 12:12-27

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body - l Jews or Greeks, slavesor free - and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body", that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. 21The eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you, nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 22On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, p all rejoice together. 27Now q you are the body of Christ and individually r members of it.
